FAIRFAX SPORTSPLEX INDOOR GAME RULES

WINTER CLASSIC TOURNAMENT 2008

  1. All games will be played in accordance with FIFA laws except those specifically modified by the Fairfax Sportsplex.
  2. Slide tackling and body charges are forbidden. You may not play the ball while lying, kneeling, or crouching on the ground. A player laying on the ball is to be called for dangerous play and a kick awarded to the other team. The keeper may slide to block the ball while in the box. Safety of the keeper will be considered first in all charges and tackles in the box.
  3. The keeper may not kick, throw or drop-kick the ball over the half-field line once it has been handled. The ball may be placed, rolled or bounced 2 times to be played over half field. The keeper may dribble the ball into the box and pick it up as long as it has not been a pass back.
  4. Goal kicks may not be kicked over the half-field line unless the ball touches the playing field or another player.
  5. A goal may not be scored from over the half-field line unless deflected off another player.
  6. All kicks are indirect except in the penalty area. Penalty kicks are taken from the top of the penalty box, one step rule. FIFA follow up exists.
  7. A distance of three yards is required for defending all free kicks.
  8. The ball is out when it hits the net. A free kick is awarded at no more then 1 yard away from the wall at the point where the ball went out of bounds. If it is along the back wall either a goal kick or a corner kick is awarded. A goal kick must be placed on the smaller box inside the goal box and a corner kick is taken from on top of the white spot in the corner.
  9. A BLUE card is a warning, the player must leave the field for 2 minutes, but may be substituted for. A player receiving a YELLOW will leave the field for 2 minutes and the team will play short for 2 minutes regardless of the scoring situation on the field. A player receiving a RED card must leave the field and may not be substituted for and must sit out the next game.
  10. The team listed first on the schedule will change shirt colors if a conflict occurs.
  11. Substitutions are made on the fly. Referees permission is not required. Players should meet at the door. Too many players will result in a free kick to the other team and a yellow card can be used if the situation calls for it.
  12. A kickoff may travel backwards. The clock does not stop for injury (unless severe). Games will consist of two 20 minute halves, with a 5 minute half time. No overtime in normal games. Overtime in FINALS and SEMIFINALS only (see below)

PLAYOFF STRUCTURE

  1. A) For divisions of 4 teams (single bracket), the Champion will be determined by total POINTS as follows:
    • 3 Points - Win
    • 1 Point - Tie
    • 0 Points - Loss

In case of a tie after all three games are played, the champion will be decided by the following Tie Breaker:
    • 1) Head to Head win
    • 2) Goal Differential (10 goal difference MAX)
    • 3) Least goals allowed

If there is a three way tie, #1 will not be used. If teams are still tied after #1 - #3, then Penalty Kicks will be taken. Teams will each provide 5 players to take Pks, alternating players. If after 5 players score is still tied, teams will alternate through their roster 1 player at a time until a winner is determined. Penalty kicks are taken from the top of the penalty box. The kick will be started by the ref whistle and FIFA follow up is allowed.

    • 2) Goal Differential (10 goal difference MAX)
    • 3) Least goals allowed

If there is a three way tie, #1 will not be used. If teams are still tied after #1 - #3, then Penalty Kicks will be taken as follows:
